If you agree for YouTube to monetize your video, you are allowing YouTube to place ads on your videos. Once you then set your videos to your AdSense account you can start earning money from the ads that are displayed on your videos.
Here is how you do it.
Step 1.
Upload a video which is completely your own, making sure there are no copyright issues with any aspect of the video.
Step 2.
In your YouTube Account go to Video Manager, next to the video click on the “Dollar Sign” icon next to the video (or in the Video Settings, click where it says “Monetization”) and then click “Monetize Videos”
Step 3.
You will need to create an AdSense account and associate it with your YouTube account to complete the process.
You can monitor your videos success via YouTube’s Analytics and promote your video around the web to try and gain more exposure.
